    Connect Codex

Use this guide for Codex CLI, desktop or IDE. ChatGPT has separate setup steps.

    SeamUI MCP server URL

    https://www.seamui.com/api/mcp

Connection requests are open on this deployment. This assistant's sign-in is still being tested.

Copy this deployment's URL. Never put a provider key, OAuth token, or secret in the URL or a chat.

    Availability

This connection has not yet completed an end-to-end SeamUI test. Verify a safe read from the Workspace you selected before relying on the tools.

    Connect Codex

    1. Copy the SeamUI server URL above.
    2. In a terminal, run codex mcp add seamui --url YOUR_SEAMUI_MCP_URL, replacing the placeholder with that URL. Do not include a token or provider key.
    3. Run codex mcp login seamui and complete sign-in in your browser. SeamUI asks you to manually choose one eligible Workspace before returning to Codex.
    4. Open /mcp in Codex to check the server, then request a safe read of the selected Workspace.

Codex can register an OAuth client automatically when the authorization server supports it. You should not need to enter a client ID for this SeamUI setup.

Use a local file as a reference

Codex sends a local file to SeamUI with a command. By default, Codex runs commands with network access turned off, so the command must be allowed to reach the domain of the server URL above:

    • CLI, app and IDE extension: approve the command when Codex asks, or set network_access = true under [sandbox_workspace_write] in your Codex configuration.
    • Codex cloud: in the environment settings under Connect to services, turn on Allow Codex to access internet, then add the SeamUI domain under Additional allowed domains.

If the upload cannot reach SeamUI, give the assistant a public https link to the file, which SeamUI downloads itself, or upload the file in the Dashboard first. Both work with no setting.

    If sign-in fails

Check that the URL is the same one shown above and restart the connection from Codex. If it still fails, contact SeamUI support with the visible error and the step that failed, never with a code, token or sign-in link.
